We do what we have to do in order to do what we want to do.

Puppy Adoption: 3 Hours

Since the time my brothers considered some worldly understanding between the beings, they’ve consistently shown great love for animals. I’ve seen whole lot of children loving animals but haven’t ever and might never see admirers of animals like my bros. When our parents plan to buy a big house in future, they nary miss a single shot to hit their plans of; adopting dogs-puppies, cats-kittens, birds, sheep, goats, fish, lions, insects – in fact they are planning for a zoo. (Ugh!)

A child would never step out of the boundaries of any limits stretched by their parents, but here I don’t see any animal restriction especially from my Father’s side. Actually they should take care of us too, that my sister and I are (Dorks!) afraid of all animals, insects and birds. Thanks to mother who’s a cleanliness-lover and she protects us in someway as she never wants to have any mess around home by animals. So for that cause we do not have many animals around home, but I see my Future-Home full of ‘em.

Currently we have two parrots, a bird, pigeons, mosquitoes and a few cockroaches that often visit my washroom and make me scream as if my throat would come-out and pass by the board. But my brothers, Salman and Kumail have been blabbing about getting them a kitten or a puppy. WHAT?! Puppy: for which mother would kill us because she’s afraid her most invited guests Farishta (angels) would run away. Or, Cat: for which I learned a few months back that if any single hair of a cat enters your throat, you’ll face a severe disease which will swell your throat up (Maybe-For-Lifetime!)

I’m…….. Petrified!

Cause Baba would never say no to their demand. Since I have done great struggle to hide Salman Kumail’s desire from Baba, I think this won’t work longer and someday bros would tell father about it and he’ll get them a dog or a cat?!

I’m…….. Petrified!

19th January, 2013 – There was no any sign of pet demand from my brothers’ side, nowhere. It was a sun-drenched morning; cause of holiday Salman and Kumail went outside to play with their friends. Baba as always was busy with some of his to-do home and office work. Mother was busy in cleaning home. Both sisters; Fiza and I were doing breakfast. All of a sudden, we all heard mama’s cell phone ringing. It was Baba. Mama’s expressions turned over while responding Baba and then got even worse when I heard her shouting ‘A DOG?! WHY DID YOU BUY A DOG…OK’
Then Mama cut the call. She was uptight. Fiza was tickled pink while I was confused. No one said more when Mama explained the whole story that your father has bought a dog gift for your brothers and that Mama herself was upset to hear such news as she was worried for her prayer angels. J

Around 12:30 pm I heard the entrance door being knocked and I identified who it was - Salman and Kumail can’t ring house bell as of their little height. I opened the door.
Salam’ I said.
Without any reply Salman and Kumail screamed, ‘Puppieeeeeeeee’ hopped inside the home and with their hands full of puppy they started dancing in thrill.
To be honest, watching them yelping, dancing, laughing and actually finding a new friend was a mesmerizing experience. I then didn’t say a word but joined them in their laughs and games. Soon after preparing our minds for a new family member, we made the puppy have milk with some dog food. It was novel effort of petting, certainly unique in its best habits. But soon or late the situation had to come when we had to say see-off this endearing chocolate-colored puppy because of some reasons. Frankly, as I saw the shine in the grins of my brothers I couldn’t help but would do what they cherished, and in one way or another I had some starting thoughts for the new comer in our home sweet.

Oh boy! Mama just ordered me to wrap up puppy’s bits and pieces. This was a horrible moment since my siblings and I had the puppy’s name planned ‘Spike or Spiky’ and his toys, his food-pots, his clothes, his belt and more-more. But….
‘‘Take care luvy spike.’’

These hours made me grasp how hard-hitting it is to depart from a family member having 3 hours bond and what about those with whom I have passed my whole life? Or how hard at times it turns to accept someone as your family?

I respect animals and even their feelings, it may sound funny to those who don’t respect any being on this planet or if you do so, what would you’ve done in my place with such circumstances?
